Domain and Range

Okay, so today in math we had a lesson on Domain and Range. Mr. Maksymchuk also showed us an application called Graphmatica. This can be found on:

RsApps (I:)

Graphmatica

Some of the things we learned today are:

Domain- What could x be?
Range- What could y be?

Functions and Relations

We are in chapter 5.2 in the text book right now learning about Functions and Relations.Today, we learned about domain which is the X values, and the range which is the Y values, and got back our tests.

The text book assignment is :

Difference of Squares

First Mr Maksymchuk showed us google street view. You can use this by going onto google maps and zooming in on any town really. Click on a camera symbol and then you should be automatically put into street view. After he showed us the street view he started to show us some things on factoring. Here are the pictures and the recording.
Sorry if the pictures are not in order. technical difficulties.

Factoring cont'd.

Today, we learned more factoring. I'm starting to get it, but not enough to properly explain it. I would try to explain it in my own words, but I would end up confusing you more then you possibly are, and I would probably confuse myself too. So below this write-up are the notes from today's class, and if these don't explain enough to you, I have uploaded the video from todays class.

Factoring Binomials and Trinomials using Alge-Tiles

If the Alge-Tiles make a perfect rectangle it is factorable.

Today at the start of class we were handed these things called Alge-Tiles.

Squaring, Cubing, and Finding the Square Root of Numbers

Today Mr. Maksymchuk showed us how to Square and Cube numbers up to infinite. We found that if we program our graphing calculator correctly, we can come up with a table of values that will in turn be converted into a graph. We were also shown how to reverse squaring a number by finding the Square Root. We can use these skills in lessons of accelerated math to come.

Assigment for the day
Finish any outstanding accelerated math objectives and start on factoring!

Here showing the meaning of a number squared.
Twenty five and twenty six represent the square.

Here showing the difference between squaring a number and cubing a number. Showing a table that shows the values of squaring and cubing numbers 1-10.

Prime Factorization (Chapter 3 pg134)

Today we learned about prime factorization! The chapter starts on page 134. In the middle of his teaching Mr. Maksymchuck showed us a fun little search engine!! The website is linked below http://wolframalpha.com/

We mainly learned about factor trees and prime factorization. We also did some GCF-Greatest
Common Factor and LCM- Lowest common multiple.
here are all the slides! I will also add the recording
