Today in class Mr. Maksymchuk showed us different ways to learn math other than in the classroom or from the text book.
You can look at the folders from the old classes, and there is an online classroom that has the same stuff we are learning. Its http://webct.merlin.mb.ca the username is demo and the password is also demo. Another website Mr.Maksymchuk showed us was http://www.dropbox.com. On it you can save files and acess them anywhere on the internet.
We also worked on our accelerated math and text book assignments we were assigned earlier.

Today October the 27th, we were assigned a practice test on pg 127 1-6. It should be complete by friday this week! Here is a link for the parent interviews thing https://secure.parentinterviews.com/swanvalley Today we worked on accelerated math, and the text book assignment he assigned us earlier on. We will get a mark out of 4 on surface area, and volume, and we will get a mark out of 8 on trig.

Today in class we learned how to solve for questions that have two triangles in the question like the example here that Mr. Maksymchuk went through with us in class. for these questions you have to make sure that you do all of the work in order to get full marks like at the end to make sure that you write a sentence about what the answer to the question was.

So, today we learned more trig. I'm not gonna lie, but all of this has went in one ear and out the other! Hopefully everyone else is understanding what we're doing. Below this little write up thingie is the notes for the day, if you missed class, and at the bottom of the page is the assignment. Also, keep working on your accelerated math!

Here's the video from today, if you didn't understand the notes from the top!
ASSIGNMENT--PAGE 95
A- 4, 5, 6
B- 7, 9, 11, 13

Furthering our triangle solver skills...

Today we learned more about how to solve the side lengths for a 30-60-90 degree triangle. We found out that no matter how BIG or small our triangle is,we can always use the ratio proportions of 2 as a measurement for our hypotenuse, 1 as our measurement for the leg that runs up and down, and the square root of 3 as the measurement for the leg that runs side-to-side. We can always use this equation to solve the side measurements of our traingle. We can use these skills to further complete our accelerated math worksheet.

We can always use the ratio of 1, 2, and the square root of 3 to solve our problems. Here we're showing the equation and how to solve.

Showing the relation between similar triangles. As long as the triangles have the same degree amounts, the triangle will always be similar.

How to apply what we know and put it into an equation.

Pythagorus Solver

Today in class, we learned how to use a Pythagorus Solver on Microsoft Excel. This solver is only for right triangles. Here is the notes and recording we got during the lesson.

Work Day!!!

Well today we werent taught anything new but we did have a profitable day for most. We were assigned an assigment from yesterdays lesson :

2.1 Tangent pg 70

A-3-5 all

B-6-8 all,10, 15, 16

C-23----He said give it a try and have fun!

There was also Accerrated Math to finish. Everyone should be done and scanned your first one by now.

Mr. Maksymchuck asked for help for the Soccer Provincials. He would like help organizing the teams all into the gym. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Trigonometry

Today in class we got our multiple choice portion of our test back. We also talked about Accelerated Math. Mr. Maksymchuk went through a bunch of Trigonomerty, since most of us haven't done much of it before. Below are the notes for the day:

TCS OAO=
Two Cats Sit On An Orange And Hold Hands

SOH- Sin= Opposite/Adjacent

CAH- Cos= Adjacent/Hypotenuse

TOA- Tan= Opposite/Adjacent

Above is a diagram of going 360 degrees around.

This is a question that won't be given to us on an assignment
or test because it doesn't give all the information needed to solve it.

What could TAN be??
TAN can be anything from 0 to infintiy.

* Remember*
If you add up all three degrees in a triangle the sum will be 180 degrees.
a+b+c= 180

Above is information that we should memorize.

Stuff to know:

  • The hypotenuse is the longest side of a triangle.

  • The hypotenuse is across from the 90 degree angle.

  • The shape that looks like a fish is call "alpha"

  • The shape that looks like a tylenol is called "theta"

Homework:

What could SIN be?

What could COS be?

Get done Acclerated Math and scan it as soon as you can.
Below is the recording of the notes:
